Mary Ann Haenni
Minister of Music

Minister of Music, Mary Ann Haenni, came to Huffman as a first-grader. It was at Huffman where she was instilled with her love of music, singing and playing bells in the choirs of Janet Leucht and Tom Schneider.

Mary Ann is a graduate of Central High School and Missouri Western State College, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education.

She began directing the children's singing and bell choirs at Huffman during college and took the position as Music Minister in 1985. Her responsibilities at Huffman include directing the adult Chancel Choir and the Children's Choir (grades K-5) and overseeing all facets of the Music Ministry.

Mary Ann strives to select a variety of music which will appeal to many and enhance the worship service. Hoping to bring all music groups together for rehearsal, fellowship, and dinner!  Mary Ann designed and helped to develop the Wednesday Family Activities Night. The program provides a time not only for music activities but for bible study, youth meetings, and children's ministries as well.

Mary Ann is the Director of Vocal Music at Savannah High School, a position she has held for twenty-three years. In addition to directing all vocal performance ensembles, she teaches Advanced Placement Music Theory, Music History, and is a private voice instructor. Professional affiliations include the Music Educators National Conference, the Missouri Music Educators Association, the American Choral Directors Association, the Missouri Choral Directors Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Mary Ann is currently serving as District Representative, All-State Coordinator, and Executive Board member of MCDA. She also is just completing a term as Vocal Vice-President of the Northwest District MMEA. Mary Ann is past director of the Griffon Junior Singers and enjoys singing with the St. Joseph Community Chorus.

Mary Ann and her husband, Randy, the pastor at King Hill United Methodist Church, reside in Savannah. They have three daughters, Elise(18), Beth Ann(15), and Grace(11). Mary Ann's parents still live eight blocks from Huffman, and five of her nieces and nephews attend Huffman. Mary Ann has a new-found interest in genealogy, does monthly scrapbooking at the church, and loves to fish. She creates and performs skits (often parodies) with music and enjoys writing children's books and designing greeting cards. Mary Ann is a member of the Genesis Sunday School Class and is craft instructor for Vacation Bible School. She is thankful for her Huffman Church family and grateful that she can raise her own children in the same church where she has received so much love and support.
